Polk County is located in the center of the Florida peninsula, about equal distance from the east and west coast and half way between the Georgia-Florida border and the Southern tip of the peninsula. Polk lies on the Interstate-4 corridor, between Tampa and Orlando. The County has a population of about 575,000 and as the geographic center of Florida, it is estimated that more than 7.5 million people reside within a 100 mile radius of Polk County. This is one of the largest concentrations of population in the southeast United States.
The Polk County Tax Collector’s Office has been a Manatron customer since 1988. Originally a CPS customer, Polk County stayed with Manatron when the company acquired CPS out of bankruptcy in 2000. In 2003, the County moved off of Manatron’s legacy tax collection system to MVP Tax, Florida’s leading tax collection solution.
“As you would during any change over, we evaluated several other products and vendors in both instances,” said Rick Rhodes, Chief Deputy of Property Taxes & Information Technologies for the Polk County Tax Collector’s Office.

Joe Tedder, Polk County’s Tax Collector, and his staff have begun, in recent years, conducting online tax certificate sales utilizing GRM Tax Sale, a solution created by a business partner, Realauction.
