The cloud computing era could come sooner to the public sector than most observers expect, if Los Angeles Chief Technology Officer Randi Levin's phone bill rings true.

In a recent sit-down interview with Government Technology in the City Hall offices of the Los Angeles Information Technology Agency (ITA), Levin revealed that her department has received 27 or 28 inquiries from California governments that are interested in Los Angeles' decision to transition all city employees to Google Apps -- the company's "hosted" productivity suite that includes Gmail.

Today Manatron announced that the Waukesha County, Wisconsin Register of Deeds office is live on GRM Recorder. Installation began in the spring of this year and with the efforts of both the Waukesha County staff and the Manatron Records Management team, a successful go-live was completed over the weekend.

Waukesha County is the first Register of Deeds office in Wisconsin to install GRM Recorder.

This installation of GRM Recorder includes Land Records, military discharges, plats, vitals, Automated Indexing (AI), and eRecording. The .NET architecture and design of Manatron’s products also made integrations into county-wide systems possible through open communication methods.
